The biggest box office movies of the year are usually released on DVD in the two month period before Christmas. DVDs are a popular Christmas gift and studios make most of their money during this time of the year. Most men like action movies and here are some of the hottest sellers for the 2010 holiday season.
Iron Man 2
The first Iron Man was a huge success earning over 500 million dollars worldwide. The sequel was even a bigger success bringing in over 600 million dollars worldwide. The sequel boasts of a bigger budget, better special effects, and Mickey Rourke added to the cast. This movie is a can’t miss for viewers who enjoy action comic book style movies.
The Expendables
The Expendables is the ultimate ensemble movie with a cast that includes Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lungren, Jason Stratham, Jet Li, Steve Austin and more. The characters are a team of elite mercenaries that are assembled to take on modern day pirates. The movie is a throwback to the nonstop action movies of the 80’s and 90’s and should please anybody looking for a fast paced action movie.
Knight And Day
This latest action movie starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz has received some unfairly negative press. The media reported that the movie performed poorly at the box office but with its total take at 253 million dollars, that is twice what the total budget was. With some eye-popping action scenes and some well-timed comic relief, Knight And Day is a great escapist movie.
Killers
Killers is an action comedy along the lines of Knight and Day starring Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl. In spite of the mixed reviews, fans of the two stars will not be disappointed in this crazy romp.
Kick Ass
This comic book style movie stars Nicholas Cage as an ex-cop who trains his 11-year-old daughter to be a female vigilante. Although the movie has an usual amount of profanity and violence from its child stars, it has just enough humor and action to please the fans of this genre.
The A Team
This remake of the action TV series starring Mr T takes the over the top plots to the next level. The preposterous storyline takes a back seat to the fast paced action and impressive special effects.
Salt
This high octane thriller stars Anjelina Jolie as a woman accused of being a KBG spy. This movie has plenty of twists and turns with the action being fast and furious. It does not release until a week before Christmas so keep your budget open for a last minute Christmas present.
