Earl Grey keeps me company
On certain days at teatime,
At moments when
Chill breezes blow,
When shadows fall
Across the lawn,
When raindrops
Bead my window pane,
Or, snow blankets
Hedges and trees.
The teapot is wrapped in its cozy,
And cup and saucer
Are poised at my side-
I sit contentedly by the hearth,
Sit for a while
To contemplate,
The cat snuggling in my lap,
Purrfectly at rest
In its surroundings.
The world is at peace,
At least, for a while,
When I make room
For a cuppa tea.

A roaring fire,
fresh bread and jam
steaming hot tea
eggs sizzling in a pan?.
When I was a child,
teatime was fun
home from school
to
The clock chimes,

The cups and saucers
are dear to my heart.
A tiny plate of cookies
has been baked by me.
