Greed in family: When blood isn't thicker than money
Unfortunately when there is money involved in any family situation there is no such thing as '' brother'' or ''sister''. Money is a miserable thing that can destroy families, and communities. It is not money itself that is so destructive but the mere negative emotion of greed. Greed can destroy family members, and force people to turn against each other.
Parents have their favourite children, and when children grow up, start working and find a spouse they change, and they somehow loose that closeness that they once shared with their brothers and sisters. Many families break up and loose contact over the years. When parents grow old, sick and senile the children who have left the nest do not under any circumstance want anything to do with the parents. Sadly most children are too pre- occupied with families of their own, and do not care a damn about their old and frail parents. Ironically when these old parents die, the children automatically become very interested in their will, and how much of money they will get out of the inheritance. Many siblings have problems if the parent left most of the inheritance to one child. This can create major friction in the family, and cause a split.
There is also the other extreme. The father can leave all assets and money to his only son; thinking that this son will care of the mother once he is dead. Let us just say that the father dies; leaving all assets to the son, and the mother is still living. This son is ruthless, and does not care about his aging mother. Since he now owns the house, and has inherited all the money he kicks the mother onto the street. This has sadly happened in reality, and therefore parents should safeguard themselves against letting their children have all their money and assets before they die, as they could well find themselves on the street, and be victims of homelessness.
This is not a perfect world, and when children are young and innocent many parents fall under the illusion that they will remain that way forever. This is not true as they generally grow into greedy, manipulative, self conceited adults who will kill their own parents in order to get what they want. It is a shameful act of greed when we see two brothers fighting over material possessions, and what morals do they teach their offspring?
