Poetry: Sonnets about fear

by Esther Mills

Created on: November 02, 2010

Ice slams through veins, my breathing shallows out,

My vision darkens in black prickling dots,

It grows and spreads, what started out as doubt,

And soon the monster clutches at my thoughts.

I don’t know when I gave it rights to me;

We’ve always both assumed it gets its way,

But suddenly I’m angry this should be

And I decide to stand my ground today.

Shut up, I say.  I’m tired of you, Fear.

Get lost, you beast - you have no business here.
