Poetry: If you were gone

Forever and ever?

Forever ever.
We whisper to each other nightly since the night we declared our love.
Forever ever but if you were gone I try to imagine how it would be.
As we are not wed would I be able to move on easily?
Would your voice linger in the air?
Would your family let your belongings be left in my care?
If so would I treasure them be or stash them away to gather
dust until they decay?
I cannot imagine life with out you.
Without the touch of your hand upon my side.
No more tender kisses nor heated arguments.
No more day to day.
Would time stand still for a little while
give me a moment to capture our life?
Would it hurriedly rush me to move on as it has done
with so many of my loved ones gone?
If you were gone I dare not imagine
as you are yet here.
Let me no longer think so morbidly.
Forever ever into eternity.
