Poetry is the breath of life in writing. Poetry replicates life in all its glory, sadness, happiness and tragedies. Poetry is the music of life in which the author places down the words for the whole world to read and to feel. Poetry inspires us to reach the heights from the depths of despair. Or it can terrify us with atmospheric dark lines and stanzas of sheer evil,
Poetry is an art form that will never grow old, or become obsolete, because it forms and moulds itself to whatever era it happens to occupy. You see poetry represents life itself, with all of life's tragedies. It is the only art form within writing that can convey - with such overwhelming power and feeling - what we as human beings go through within our lives and within life itself.
More than any other writing genre poetry best shows and explains all the struggles we as human beings go through in life, love and death. In these things poetry rules supreme, better than any short story, or novel. Poetry packs in such emotion of feeling within a few short lines that it continues to amaze many readers how a skilled poet, or indeed, poetess is able to convey such feelings of such power and depth that poetry can display.
As explained above, poetry is all about life, no more no less. Poetry covers a myriad of situations - and the whole spectrum of life. No matter what form of poetry is written, the bottom line is that poetry - more than any other type of writing - reflects the whole plethora of what life is all about.
Poetry is listening to life replicated in words, the wind, the thunder and lightning - the sounds that scare. The sound of the tides moving in then out, the moon's influence round about. Oceans' buckle as if to please, as you listen to life and all its frequencies. Poetry is war, blood and death. Poetry is love, within every beating heart and breath. Poetry is all of these things and more. Poetry is an half-open threatening door. Poetry is something we cannot define, but it beats within the very hearts and minds of mankind.
And there you see, that poetry lives within you and me. What is poetry? well, that has been explained. But poetry is something we cannot fully explain. Poetry is something we cannot define. Poetry can be bitter - or like fine choice wine. Poetry we feel deep within our hearts. We are moved to write and so it becomes a part of the very fabric and essence of life. Poetry is all about love, troubles and strife. Poetry is what we want it to be. How we define it is up to you and me
And that is what poetry is all about, for life is nothing without...poetry.
