Digital Photography has opened the door for thousands of hobbyist and amateur photographers due to the newer, easy-to-use digital cameras that are now available. These new digital units have taken all of the worry out of choosing the proper settings by offering an "auto" option. At the push of a button, you are automatically focused and have all the correct levels set, awaiting your subject.
Images are immediately available for viewing on the LCD screen and with the push of a button, can be saved or deleted at your discretion. Being able to store all of your new images on tiny memory cards or within your camera's own internal memory, means no more film to buy and no more developing to pay for.
The diversity of using digital photography allows you to be as simple, creative or as detailed as you want to be. Most of these user friendly cameras have numerous additional settings available, for the more advanced and for those wanting to learn more. Since you can delete as much as you like, you can shoot hundreds of thousands of images, only keeping the ones you want..
First, read you camera's manual, more than once. Meaning, after using the camera several times, go back and see if may have missed or forgotten anything. Keep user manual with you when shooting, in case you need to refer back to it. Spend some time getting familiar with your new camera. Scroll through all the options so you came become comfortable with which options are where. Take multiple shots of the same subject, while changing the setting for each one. This way, you can see how the different settings will affect your results. Also, many professionals keep a note pad with them, just in case. The more you shoot, the better you will become. Shoot everyday, if you can. Practice with indoor, outdoor, zooming and subjects in motion. All this may take awhile to learn. However, it can be fun.
After capturing all the images needed, you can upload these images to a computer, your printer or take them to an all-in-one photo machine that is available in the photo department of many local stores. Digital imaging also allows you to order prints on-line, e-mail them or post to the web for sharing. Because these images are digitally created and stored, you can edit your pictures as much as you desire. With the proper software, added to your computer or used on-line, you can do pretty much anything you like with them.
Digital imaging allows you to enhance your photos in a variety of ways. You can crop, color correct, color change, darken, lighten, add things or even take things out. You can also include text or draw on them, if you like. There is really no limit as to what you can do with digital photography and without having to break the bank.
Whether you have a point-and-shoot model or a professional SLR, with practice, you can learn to shoot like a pro. Check out on-line photography clubs, forums and contests. Communicating with other photographers can answer many questions you might have, As well as, offer advice on techniques that you may want to try.
