What would you do if you were faced with a decision such as paying fifty grand for college or getting paid fifty grand to sign a paper? As adults most people would say that a person reaches adulthood around the age of 18 and is able to make their own decisions. Is it safe to say its the right decisions?
A high school graduate is not mature enough to make their own decision on whether to attend college or to grab the wad of cash laying in front of them set there by an NBA scout. All in favor for a rule stating that a player must attend college say I...
A college education is the most important thing in life, besides the moral ethics that your parents teach you. Without a college education and degree, your helpless in life. With no college degree you mine as well count on working at MacDonald's. A player can not rely on their skill of the game to get them through life. Injuries plague many players, some are cut from the team, and others just aren't good enough. Even if you are Lebron James, you still need something to fall back on. Although you may make enough money to pay for everything you need and can ask for, you still got to have common sense. A good education is needed to succeed in life.
Yes of course there are those who hit it off quick and easy in the NBA, but there are also those who dont. Most of the high school kids who go straight to the NBA end up in a foreign league a few years later. Although there are those few stars that make it, many waste their time and money, and end up in college, right where they should of been in the first place. The charts show that more players who attended college before a pro career, has succeeded on a higher rate than those that did not.
College makes memories. You make friends, experience college life and parties, and go through one of the best times of your life. Why would you want to miss that? The point is there needs to be a rule that makes kids go through college , maybe not all four years, but at least two, just so they can have some type of education. Many people say "Oh yeah I'll go back after my career and finish it up". Well fact is most of them don't. My vote is "yes" their needs to be a rule on the NBA age issue. !PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE! Wait and you shall be rewarded...
