If you are the type of person who watches movies because you want to be entertained for a couple of hours, read on. If you would rather watch movies for their scientific, historical, or factual importance, then I recommend you don't waste your time. LS&TSB is the ultimate entertainment movie, and whilst it will make you think long and hard about how all of the interwoven story lines come together, it won't teach you anything... at all.
Directed by Guy Richie, LS&TSB took a group of relatively unknown actors, and through brilliant casting, storytelling, soundtracks, and dialog, creates a masterpiece. The story follows a group of four friends who scrape together some money that one of them (a good gambler) uses to plays poker with the underworld Porn King. He loses all of the money, and the four of them have a week to pay up the extra money that he lost as part of a loan he took out during the game.
The rest of the movie follows their trials and tribulations as they run into Nick the Greek, Rory Breaker, pot growers, Dawg, and Harry's right hand man. As the movie progresses, the complexity of the story takes on level up level, and it seems that it is only through the protagonists stupidity that they manage to stay alive.
As mentioned, the movie is supported by a fantastic soundtrack, and brilliant cinematography, to make this movie a true masterpiece.
Having seen this movie at least a dozen times, there is one flaw that I can find, but other than that, this complex masterpiece is bulletproof (an ironic word to choose), and the script is a work of art. This was really one of those movies that sparked the new craze of Hollywood movies to twist and turn and try to confuse the viewer, but none have done it as simply and beautifully as LS&TSB.
I cannot recommend this movie highly enough. It is a fantastic story to watch, and although you may not learn anything from the movie, it will still be one of the best movies you will have seen.
