How to lose weight while eating out

It’s your birthday, or it’s your anniversary.  Your daughter or your son graduated from high school, or college.  What better way to celebrate these special occasions than eating out at a nice restaurant.  And that means delicious food, rich, thick sauces, and desert, laden with thick and rich icing.  How else can we celebrate a meaningful event?  We go out to eat.  For months, though, we tried to lose weight.  And we managed to lose most of it.  Are we going to throw everything away while we celebrate this happy event, either it’s a birthday or an anniversary?  We shouldn’t.  And that takes careful thinking on our part, prior to going out to eat.

When eating out we have to remember, that what we have accomplished so far, can be lost within a few hours of just pure pleasure.  Yes, all the foods in the restaurants taste delicious.  That’s why we want to go back and have more.  Restaurants will cook foods with the richest ingredients so that patrons will keep coming back.  It’s all right if we go out and eat once in a while but if this is a habit due to lack of time, then we have to make some smart choices while eating out.

When eating out in a restaurant, either because we didn’t have time to cook, or we were just tired, we have to remember that we are on a mission.  We are trying to lose weight, thus while eating out we have to choose the utmost healthiest foods.

Greek cuisine restaurant

If trying to lose weight, Greek cuisine is the healthiest of most.  Order the chicken or pork kebab that is marinated in olive oil and lemon juice with oregano and some garlic.  As a side order have the baked potato with steamed vegetables.  Another choice would be to have spinach pie with a small Greek salad.  Phyllo dough has fewer calories that pie dough.  And the spinach is laden with antioxidants.  As for the Greek salad with feta cheese is the best choice, if you want something that will give protein (the feta cheese) without all the fat of any other American cheese.

Mexican cuisine restaurant

Mexican cuisine is full of cream sauces and cheeses.  Skip the enchiladas which are smothered with melted cheese and try the chicken or shrimp fajitas.  The grilled chicken and vegetables are a better choice than cheese melted smothered burritos.
