It is interesting to note the importance placed on the keeping of days by various religious cults, which insist they alone have truth. Sabbatarians are equally as dogmatic, intolerant and misguided in their interpretation of Scripture as those they are hastening to correct. We accept there are many dedicated, sincere citizens who are members of these organizations, and diligently pursue their teachings, not realizing that certain teachings, especially in relation to Sabbath keeping are erroneous. We note the cry of the Lord, "Come out of her My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." Rev.18:4
There is no doubt that Saturday is the Sabbath, and Biblical evidence to support this is obvious. The Sabbath is the day which the followers of the Old Testament teachings, the Jews, were instructed to keep holy, Ex.20:8, and there are many laws relevant to the keeping holy of that day in both the Old and New Testament, though, there is reference only to those keeping this law, including in the New testament, as being the children of Israel.
We would also draw attention to the Law which forbids the making and worshipping of images, Ex.20:4, which is another Law the Gentiles seem to have blithely ignored, but, let us continue with the validity of Saturday being the day of Sabboath, rest. It is foolishness in the extreme, for Gentiles, to profess the keeping of the Law when we have the offer of Grace available through Jesus Christ, which removes from us the bondage of the Law which no man, other than the Lord Jesus Christ, was ever able to keep.
It would be good if religious, denominational leaders could show, in Scripture, where Jesus instructed Gentiles to keep the Sabbath; or, more relevantly, to point out Scripture where Paul, the messenger to the Gentiles, instructed his students, the Gentile Christians to keep the Sabbath. We have Biblical record of proselytes so doing, proselytes being gentiles who had adopted Judaism as their religion, but we have no such data concerning Christians, as to keeping a particular day set aside for fellowship.
Christians should regard every day as a day of worship, not any special one, though we read that the saints gathered together on the first day of the week, for teaching, edification, fellowship and communion. 1Cor.16:2
Proselytes, gentiles who adopted the Jewish faith, were not allowed to enter the holy place but
