Pets or kids ? Personally I think some of us do well with one or the other. I have heard tales of success in both departments, but I tend to think these were from individuals who were working on scripts for the Sci-fi channel.
I do have some knowledge from a family- related level. My brother and his family are a good example of family + kid surviving successfully. . With Bubba the Wonderdog and my niece Kimberly they seem to be doing quite well keeping things together. Never have received any distress calls from Bubba so that is where I place my proof . And since Kimberly is in charge of the house, things seem to be going smooth in that area as well.
As for me…..let’s say it’s leaning to the pet angle by 99.999999 percent. My fish can bear witness to this since I truly believe they understand me more than I do myself at times. Oh, I have friends/co-workers that have both kids and a family pet with nine out of ten times the conversations being based around the pet. Okay maybe that percentage is a little off . Make it eight out of ten just to be fair.
Don’t get me wrong both are fantastic . Some tend to drag their butts all over the place and others tend to drag your butt all over the place. Take your pick there is equal balance here….no discrimination intended or provided.
Although there are arguments for the benefits of having both kids and pets. I have yet to see any research pertaining to how these two parties really feel about each other . I’m sure it would be a great read if just one dog or cat could discuss what it’s like to be dragged tail first down the hallway. Not sure how the kid would enjoy reliving the time the dog or cat retaliated though. Still waiting on the documentary regarding the wonderful aspects of cat food being enjoyed by little Tommy Finklestein at the age of four as well. On the other side of the coin, nothing says love better than discovering both kid and pet enjoying an entire gallon of ice cream on the kitchen floor.
My fish you ask ? Well as I stated earlier, they make up for the child aspect. They never need to be disciplined . They have come to understand that from their point of view, the chances of me growing up are fairly slim. Actually I believe the percentage they have given me is roughly around 99.999999 percent. Okay maybe that percentage is a little off . Probably more around 99.999998 percent. It’s a family thing okay ? Never want to hurt their feelings.
