I have owned several cats in my life time. To say the least, cats are just as trainable as a dog. I've had both and done both. I can say that a dog is much easier than a cat. Cats do tend to be more stubborn and hard headed. The key is to find their favorite treat. Treats are a key factor in training an animal, it helps to keep their attention and focus. Gain their attention with the treats, and just like a dog, they will do your trick in order to get their treat. When training dogs, you can spend a longer amount of time with them. From my experience with cats, you spend a shorter amount of time, but you do it more frequently.

I did have a dog and cat that grew up together. They were a comical pair. My dog Drew was a terrier mixed mutt, but he was as smart as a whip. When my cat Reece' saw me giving treats to Drew, she became more interested in what was going on. Before I knew it, she was sitting and giving her paw on command. The cutest thing you ever did see was a white dog and a black brindle cat side by side sitting and shaking paws on command. Eventually they would speak on command, then that's all she wrote for the cat. Drew went on to sneezing on command, lay down, rollover, and more. It was a lot of fun. Drew by far was the smarter one, but both were very loving and made great pets.

That isn't the only cat or dog I've ever trained, but definitely the cutest. There have been other animals I've owned that were un-trainable, yes, believe it or not, I had two dogs that were un-trainable. Unfortunately they were as dumb as a box of rocks. The cats on the other hand, were some of the smartest bunch that I've ever had. These cats were awesome, smart, and full of great personalities. There were five, and three of them would sit on command. They new what the word "no" meant. When I said talk to me, they meowed. From past experience, I would say absolutely yes to training a cat. Cats are very clever creatures. I am an animal lover, cats are my favorite, and of the cat family, the tigers are my # 1 of all. The German Sheppard is my favorite dog specie.
