When texting was first introduced, I wasn't real thrilled about it. I didn't like it because I wasn't able to text as fast as I would have liked to. Having to push the # 2 button three times to get to the letter "c", that was a nightmare for me. My daughter kept insisting that I text to her, and it was driving me nuts. So when she would text me with a question or whatever she needed to say, I would read her text and then push the call button and talked to her on the phone to respond. Now I was starting to drive her crazy!
It wasn't until I upgraded my phone, and I had a keyboard on my phone, like a computer. WOW! Finally something I could relate to! I was so excited, I could finally text my daughter and carry on a conversation without frustration. I can type one letter at a time, not have to go through each number two and three times to spell a word. That really is a horrible way of texting, and I can certainly understand that could drive anyone not to like texting. That only being part of the problem.
Now days with texting, it is better than a message. Instead of talking to voice mail, leave a text message. Your recipient will get the message much quicker, and they won't have to go through their voice mail to retrieve the message. I still use my phone to call people and talk, but sometimes we text also. Sometimes you are busy, so you have a conversation while you are doing other things, even talking on the phone. You are still able to text back and forth at your own leisure. Then again, it is good for a quick answer when your not looking for a conversation also.
Texting isn't a bad thing. It's a good thing. It's a way of connecting on a whole new level. One more way to help communicate just a little more efficiently. Get the right phone, and I promise you will like it a lot more. Learn how to text and find you'll have a lot more communication with your children. Mine is almost 24 years old, and she will text me before she calls me. I'm okay with that, I get to hear from her in a different way, but I know she is okay. And Knowing is half the battle!
