Poetry: Forbidden love

DYING IS AN ART

Reckless abandonment
When sorrow sings of unrequited love and lust concealed
War rages in ravaged hearts
When I would cross the valleys of this scorched earth
And shift the sands of time to feel your warmth
Even though I know I've never looked into your eyes
But lay your head upon my breast, my dear
And feel my nipples harden; the quickening of mortal breath
Say farewell to the forbidden, abandon reason
Inviolable earthly pleasures for which even saints have fallen from grace
Whilst the purest of hearts have died without ever truly knowing love
In this dark and gloomy void, it feels so empty here alone
With one-way mirrors, you're on the other side, you've come so close
I'm reaching out to hold you and you don't even know
Though if all the tears I'd cried in life had only fallen on your heart
You'd know that living was a mindless craft
And dying is an art
