Winter mornings are
Ice cold and dark as night
Not again is all I think
Tomorrow it will be the same
Every winter is dark and cold
Returning every year
Winter I prefer summer
Instead all I get is you
Trying to feel warm and smile
Heat inside gets cold with you
Snow is falling
Not as white as in the movies
Over and over again
Winter doesn't seem to be a friend

When maple, oak and birch stand
in stoic silence,
never sleeping, witnessing a new, white world -
then is the Hearth Time,

WINTER
Warmed by the fireplace
I study delicate crystals of ice on the pane.
New patterns appear
Telling me it's only begun.
White mittens and rosy cheeks
Icicles that dance in the sunlight.
New hats broken in and scarves on display.
Truth
Homeless Winter
White-out weather does blind my sight,
Ice crystals drag down on my beard.
Numbness spreading, sapping
by Kay Bee
White snow blankets the earth
Icicles form pointed shapes
Night time arrives early
Trees hibernate from the cold
