To stand against the ebb and flow of Time
is to eventually be driven to our knees
upon the floor of the desert sea whilst
the 'Winds of Change' wield grains of sand
like miniature scalpels, mercilessly carving
us away with a hundred minute slices
for every tic of the clock.
Still, Time travels the greater distance
between the tic and the toc
and it is within those intervals
that we are challenged with
our grandest adventures and our deepest woes.
So, once again we find the means
to haul ourselves back up to our feet;
or perhaps we have little choice
but to hunker down to
protect ourselves as best we can
thereby seeking rest for a while
before we begin to crawl onward once more.
Yes, it is true, one day Time will pass us by
and only our memory will be left in its wake.
Yet in the meantime, is it not interesting
how the question of "What next?" can drive us on
or pin us down with equaled dispatch...
