That the best reasons to care about M&M's are variety and flavor, there is no doubt. M&M's come in a variety of colored shells both seasonal and for special charitable consideration, such as the pink M&M's that supported the cause of taking a closer look at the epidemiological phenomenon of breast cancer.
But nothing really beats the flavor of sugar-shell coated plain M&M's, and though it seldom happens in any case - you can bet that there won't be a bad peanut in the whole bunch to spoil the seductive and chocolaty snack.
Plain M&M's go well with a variety of occasions, whether at Easter or Halloween or even Thanksgiving or Christmas, and still the little bead-like candies bear a lot of potential when you consider the possible evolutions. For example, the candy shells have been colored, to-date, but never flavored. Halloween would be a great time to try flavoring these shells with "Trick or Treat" flavors such as pumpkin spice, pumpkin pie, lemon, orange, banana, peach, mango, pecan, walnut, or even peanut.
M&M's are particularly a favorite for Halloween, and their virtues are in being the sorts of candies that won't get chocolate on your fingers if you want to eat them on Halloween night while shuffling around from place to place in a jump suit. And another positive point that comes from the fact is that the little candies are not messy to share with others who happen to be around, well, anywhere.
The basic trouble with peanut M&M's is that there is no compare to fresh-roasted peanuts that can be consumed together in the same session with the plains. And since only you know whether you prefer roasted Spanish peanuts or any of the other versions, you get full control over your M&M experience when you bake or microwave your own peanuts.
So, I'll prefer plain M&M's to the peanut version, even though the peanuts do add something substantial and often healthy for dietary consideration. Nevertheless, the base fact is that quality control of other shelled nut candies sometimes results in the incorporation of spiders or other insect surprises that seldom miss inspection altogether. And for that reason, nut candies do not really tend to satisfy craving for the more enticing chocolate that explains why I like to eat M&M's in the first place.
However, if you want to get Halloween ghosts and ghoulies something to think about - give them the peanut M&M's and sticker on a web link to your favorite shell-coated chocolates debate this Halloween season.
