When you are beginning the long journey of the remote control (RC) flying hobby there are few things you have to consider first be prepared this hobby cost you money and patience to master ,but you can start small.
There are mini helicopters with is around 25$ with infrared remote controller. But be sure it is equipped with a gyroscope which is responsible for keeping the helicopter steady without rotating. These are usually coaxial type. Coaxial means helicopter is having two counter rotating rotor blades. Though coaxial helicopters are lacking acrobatic abilities like full pitch helicopter
When you are looking for a mini coaxial helicopter it is better if you can get a 4 channel one since it will give you the control over the all 4 axis.
Up/down
Sideways
Rotation
Forward/backward
These mini helicopters will give you the sense of orientation before you move on to a more professional one.
Another very famous beginner helicopter is coaxial lama3/4 serious –which is around 100$ price range but with full 4 channel controls with radio frequency remote control. Newer models support 2.4GHZ frequency range for bit higher price but if you go for 2.4GHZ range there are many advantages. But consider where you live and regulations about the permitted frequency range in your country. Also go for a training kit when you are a beginner this will save you lot of replacement parts.
Once you master the orientation with a coaxial helicopter you can move on to more advanced types although some start form them right from the beginning. There are 2 types fixed pith and collective pitch. Choose collective pitch if you aim for more professional and 3D acrobatic flights someday.
Trex serious and Trex-clones are a good starting point. These for full 6 channel collective pith helicopters, capable of 3D acrobatic flights. Trex 450 is easier to fly than 250 and there are replacement parts readily available. But be prepared to learn and adjust the helicopter to fine tune the copter before flying. There are lot of how to and training videos are available on the internet. Once you master the flying in general you can move on to 3D acrobatic flying. Probably you must replace your plastic parts with metal and carbon fiber blades, Etc
Honey bee is another 6 channel helicopter comes between the lama and the Trex but ultimately you should aim for Trex.
Although I have talked about electric helicopters there a gas powered ones with more price tag and more power. So think about what you want to achieve and how much time and money you like to spend before buying and stating this wonderful world of helicopters.
