Penning Years
Between fingers
I have lived
For decades
Flowing like a warm breeze
Twisting like a windstorm
A sketcher of time
An implement for voice
Happy, angry, sad
Composed, ambitious
Pressed too hard
Living dangerously
Creating, skipping
Acting foolishly
Pushed to the side
And left alone for weeks
Strong and weak
Blustering like a baby
Or lulled quietly
Black and blue and red
Giving time, and taking it
Losing sight and regaining it
Stubborn, bold
Uncooperative, mindful
Required to perform miracles
Enforced by wishy-washy rules
And goals to justify the means
Once a useful liquid
I am nothing now but dried tears
Dried up hopes
To be replaced by another
To start the agonizing
Process all over again

thinking
Broken hearted words she weaves
Into this blanket of memories
Her deepest emotions expressed by pen
Her strongest desire to
