No relationship is easy especially when you’re fighting the odds in a homosexual relationship. Making it work in a lesbian relationship is the same as making it work in a heterosexual relationship. It takes hard work and a lot of love to get you through the bad days. One of the most important things you need to remember is that in a healthy lesbian relationship you need communication. It is so important to let your partner know what you’re thinking and how you feel. Open communication is the only way that your partner will understand how you feel. Don’t make her guess or play games. In most cases that will only lead to argument and fighting. The best way to avoid that is to open your mouth and say something.
Another way to establish a healthy lesbian relationship is to stay connected to the LGBT community where you live. It’s important to have this connection because in most communities homosexuality is overlooked, ignored, or frowned upon. When you have that connection with other people who share the same preferences as you it makes you feel more comfortable and like you belong. You don’t have to feel isolated and out of place. You don’t have to always be out in the homosexual community but keeping that connection to other people like you is important and you want to keep that support.
In addition to staying connected if you want to have a successful and healthy lesbian relationship you should both be “out.” Coming out is probably one of the harder things for homosexuals to do considering all the negativity circulated around this particular lifestyle. I believe that if you chose this lifestyle then you should be comfortable in this lifestyle and the only way to do that is to be who you are no matter what. Coming out can help you and your partner become closer and it will be more accepted. Living in the closet only makes it worse because of the lies and secrets you have to keep.
Establishing a healthy lesbian relationship entails everything you need to have in a healthy heterosexual relationship. Communication, trust, love, commitment and the list can go on forever. Just remember it’s important to stay strong and get through the hard times together. Lesbian relationships are a challenge. Make sure that you ae in the fight with someone who is willing to take positive steps and fight with you.
