Every evening when the clock chimes nine,
And the kids are tucked in bed,
I have a man who visits me
Together we break bread.
His face is sad, his heart is bruised
For his wife he cannot find.
He used to meet her every night
At just about this time.
He shared with me the story of
How she went away,
And the promise that she spoke
That she would return some day.
He takes his bread and dips it in
My homemade turkey pie
He takes his hankie and wipes his chin,
I don't want to question why.
With deep sighs he continues on
With his tale of woe
How his heart aches for his love
And how she had to go.
She moved toward a golden light
That only she could see,
Left behind he was alone
To face eternity.
For three years now he's sat with me
Every night at nine.
And like smoke he disappears
Right about bedtime.
I've told him that the day will come
When the light will shine for him,
And there she will be waiting,
To begin their life again.
He thanks me and just smiles soft
A sign of disbelief
I hold his hand and try to help
Him get through his lonely grief.
He stands and slowly raises
Moving down my hall,
A wave and then he vanishes
Right through my bedroom wall
The day will come when he won't visit
Because he's found his way
Into the light where his wife's waiting
With open arms to say...
"My ghostly love why has it
taken you so much time,
for you to realize where you are
and to read my signs?"
"Every night I've watched you sit
and visit with this girl,
as though you had no wife waiting
in this other world.
I'm here now and will always be
you're one and only love.
And now that you have come to me,
Our kingdom waits above."

Poetry: Ghosts

Foot steps in the moonlit air
Icy fingers, running through my hair
Breathing slowly, I refrain
This fear inside, this life
Soft white starlight filtering through
Winter’s trees empty and bare.
With a lone traveler in view
Shadows fall across
by JT Till
Once upon a midnight ride while a storm went raging by,
I came upon a specters sheet an eerie sight to spy.
With eyes
They floated out of bodies they possessed
And got frightened out of their wits.
No longer able to hold things and retain them
Tilda the Lovelorn Ghost
The following is a tantalizing tale,
One you'll ne'er believe,
Of a phantom who wanders the halls,
