Poetry: Inside my purse

"Retirement"

the answer to everything

waits in my shoulder bag

I'm a retired old Puller

all the men I see are weeds

step-step

I'm always on the step-stepp

thirty years of meetings

through a circle in the plywood

very slick hands

and a sex worker's tan

so its no wonder it erases

those Daffy Duck gloves

bang-bang

yep, my bang-bang gun that I'm talkin' about

its not the same one

it's changed over the years

oh, modern marvels

of muffle and muzzle

he never hears it coming

and neither do his buddies

dot-dot

O!  how I love to dot-dot their foreheads

and cops always find

reasons to be somewhere else

as soon as they see

two close and neat like that

so what's an old gal to do

but start writing letters to the police

heh-hem

does this get your attention heh-hem

in my letters I wrote vividly

about weeding season...ha ha ha

and they had no idea

what I was referring about

but I'm familar with the favor

for which cops'll leak headlines

bang-bang

another row of weeds just met the bang-bang

step-step

I'm always on the step-step...
