BLOOD DIAMONDS
Red is the color of both passion and rage
Violently sensual, lust burns down prisons of bondage that once kept me enslaved
I know this love is taboo but each time you kiss me it leaves me to quiver, I'm breathless
Achingly beautiful, you are the drops of light that shine atop blood diamonds on my ruby necklace
Lying beside you beneath warm sheets at night
Our secrets don't matter, I feel safe here, this was meant to be right
Flesh pressed against flesh, tired bodies housing sleepless souls
But I'll still be your warmth when the world is ravaged by disease, death and cold
What do our stolen nights matter when days gone by have been riddled with conflict and war
If the greater good does not triumph, the wounds open and bleed, it's not worth fighting for
And I'd rather bleed myself dry just to be lost in your embrace for one day
Than let all these truths wither, lost to a river that's run red, every ounce washed away
Blood diamonds tainting beauty into savage needs
Saints become monsters to conquer love, the best of men become beasts
But no matter who dies our wills will prove strong
For you can slaughter the dove, but the world that remembers will echo its song
