For us Ladies I think love hurts so much because we get far to easily attached. He says our name with a twinkle in his eye and we are eternally his but that not what he's thinking. Don't get me wrong not all guys are shallow and just looking to get some but some can take advantage of the fact that us girls latch on too easily. Us being the childbearing emotionallly filled to the top gender plays into it as well. We like commitment we like to feel like theres nobody else that matters to him.
From what I have observed of guys they tend to enjoy there freedom until a certain point where they decide to settle down. Some never do but for those who do I think their settling down is a sign of closure. They know this is the end of the row and they are now stuck in the relationship and they decide to make the best of it, most of the time.
The only problem is it seems that there are fewer and fewer guys who actually want to settle down. Sometimes they maybe don't want to settle down because they can't see themselves with that specific person. Or sometimes they are just workaholics who are married to their jobs. Ladies something I have found in my relationships is that it is a lot better to find a guy who at least hopes to get married and make sure you drill him on that casually of course and if you're the one everything will just take place. Never push him though, let him have his poker night/golf or whatever tickle his fancy.
Love hurts because the problem isn't you, it's finding someone. It's finding Mr.Right. There really is no Mr.Right every guy has has quirks just like we do but finding one we can at least put up with is tricky.
