We all expect our politicians to live up to morality standards when they are in office but there is definitely a problem with living up to morality and that is everyone has the same basis of morality but they are not always viewed in the same way that the politicians do.
Regardless of their on morals, Politicians while in the process of getting elected will act in a way that makes it look like they have a similar morality to whom ever they are talking too with few exceptions, the politicians will word their speeches around the morality of those he or she will be talking to, whether it be a religious group, a public speech or a job place.
Unfortunately, when speaking about morality they do leave out specific groups that are part of the voter base and in some area's a large enough voter base to effect the outcome of the election. This is due to the negative perception that society perpetuates due to generations of being taught that it is wrong and also hatred towards any group that is different.
Once in office the politicians tend to show how they really feel on the subject matter that was put forth during the election and also tends to act like they are there to shake up the morality of the part of government that they were elected too so that it matches their ideas of morality.
In the public forum, they tend to put down those groups that we have been taught to hated and use their religious beliefs as a valid reason to put them down even though what they have to contribute to society is no less relevant than anyone else. I have seen a few people in general point out segments of a passage from the bible. If you were to look at the full passage that is being used, then many of the politicians would not be in a position to use religion due to that specific passage including more than those few groups we torment..
The U.S. Constitution was written in a way to try and limit religions role in government where everyone knows that not everyone can leave their religious beliefs at the front door at their work place. There are also a lot of people who think that where the specific phrase "separation of church and state" does not appear in it, that there is no separation at all and end up preaching their morality, even if it appeals to just a small fraction of the people he or she was elected to represent, who choose to be very vocal on what they feel is right and wrong.
Politicians who have chosen to this is what I believe and religion is the basis of it, then they need to re-read their religious texts and put the full text into use rather than bits and pieces that will get them elected.
