Exotic dancing: Facts and fiction

Exotic dancing is one of the hardest professions to explain, especially to people who have never done it before or even to people who have, but have only worked in a certain "type" of club. I danced off and on since I was 22, I'm 27 now and I just quit in December. I've worked in different types of clubs as well from bikini bars to fully nude clubs. The rules are different in each club as well as the environment. In my "home" club we only tipped out $20 at the end of the night. We had $10 table dances which we kept all of the money from those, the $35 and $45 dances that the club kept $10 from, and $150 VIP dances which the club kept $50. The fees were great the money was good to great. Yes there were girls that did drugs, and then there were others that didn't. Dancing is not for "weak", it is a very difficult job at times. You do get your share of jerks, that act like they are above you because "you're just a stripper" according to them. You're going to have bad apples that make the rest of us look bad. There's no denying that some of the stereotypical things DO go on in some clubs. It all boils down to the person. I hear of a lot of girls saying they got into a certain lifestyle because of the club, but I feel like if they can be influenced at the club, they can be influenced elsewhere as well. I guess what I'm trying to say is that they could have been at a party and been influenced just the same. It kind of angers me when people blame their lifestyle on dancing...blame yourself for your lifestyle. I had a lot of ups and downs dancing, but overall the good outweighed the bad and I do believe I became a stronger person due to it.
