Favoritism in the workplace unfortunately is a part of a job. Managers will always have someone they will show special treatment to.
I use to be a Lead Event Specialist for a company, I worked for this company from April of 2009 until October of 2010. My supervisor never met me but she did meet the man that I worked with. When the man I worked with came in to work he would always say " Well Theresa called me this morning, woke me up". Then he would talk about how our supervisor and the mans wife would always talk about business. Now because my x-supervisor knew the man that I worked with but didn't know me she did give him special treatment. If there were a two person demo, she would put him in charge when I was the lead, she would always give him the good demos, always gave me the crappy ones. When she did the schedule she would always put his name above mine.
Then when I was a Night Auditor for a Hotel, My managers did give special treatment to the other Night Auditor who worked on my days off. Before the Hotel was opened for business Me and the other Night Auditor was suppose to sit down and talked together on how we wanted to work, well she would not talk to me instead she talked to the managers and said she had to work a certain week because her brother came home from college and she wanted to spend time with him. When the schedule was first made it was made wrong, she was scheduled the wrong week, so she told the managers she could not work that week, so the changed the schedule to please her. They did not ask me if it was OK if she worked that certain week. Then she started taking weekends off. ( even though she only worked every other weekend) and even though she told alot of time off of work, the managers gave her more hours, letting her work the breakfast bar, second shift at the desk. Whenever someone would say something bad about this person one of the managers would stick up for her. ( Get very defensive).
I know from experience when a manager gives a certain employee special treatment ( favoritism) it brings down the morale. You dread going to work and you can not wait until your shift is done.
