Recipes, clipped from magazines and kept for future use, can pile up quickly. Keep them organized with the following tips and suggestions.
Binder
The most versatile way to organize your clipped magazine recipes is to store them in a binder. Purchase a 3-ring binder to organize your clipped recipes. For good prices on binders, shop at thrift stores, and during school sales. Fill the binder with plastic page protectors. These are typically expensive, so search dollar stores, thrift stores and bulk warehouses for lower prices. You can also search sales on-line or by reading the weekly ads for stores, especially office supply stores. Each time you clip a recipe you want to keep and try later, slide it into a plastic page pocket, and use both sides of the pocket. It is easy to separate categories with tabs. Plastic pages can be taken out and added conveniently. Store your binder with your cookbooks for convenient access.
Composition Notebook
Hard cover composition notebooks are another way to organize recipes, however they cannot be removed as easy as when you use the binder as mentioned above. In this notebook, you can use a glue stick or clear tape to attach clipped recipes to notebook pages. Add tab dividers to separate categories. This type of organizing is better for keeping the recipes permanently, so be sure you have tried the recipe before gluing or taping it to the page. You can also use only one side of the page, and cut the recipes you do not wish to keep any longer, however this will waste the paper in your notebook.
File Box
If you choose to purchase a file box, file folders, and tab dividers, to organize your clipped recipes, you may need a larger place to store it. File boxes are sold in a variety of sizes, so be sure to consider the space you have available. Consider a flexible thin size folder box with flexible cover. The idea of organizing your magazine recipes is to also keep them conveniently located and stored easily. Be careful as to what size you do purchase if you decide to organize your recipes this way. You may be tempted to clip more recipes than you intend to try.
Basket
Place a small basket or hinged box on your kitchen counter to store clipped recipes you plan to try later. This works well for those who save only a few recipes. You can easily access them and search through them. Once you try a clipped
