What is a Church?

Church: "building for public, Christian worship." Oxford dict.

God’s Church is His body, those who make up His Being. One could compare His Church, His bride, to the atoms, the molecules that make up a human body, which also explains how we, as individual cells, are ‘in’ Him.

"For we are members of His body," Eph.5:30; "And He is the Head of the body," Col.1:18;  "to which also ye are called in one body..."Col.3:15

It is easy to establish, through Scripture, that the body of Christ refers to the predestinated seed, those called, through whom He has and is today expressing, revealing Himself. Rom.12:5; 1Cor.6:19; there are more Scriptures which clarify that what is spoken of in the epistles refers to the mystical body of Christ, which is His bride, His church. Col.1:27 "To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of Glory."

The Church is a New Testament phenomena, and is built upon the revelation of Who Jesus, the Christ, is. It is not built upon a man or the teachings, dogma and doctrine of man, but the personal revelation of Jesus Christ to the individual. God deals with the Jews as a nation but with the Gentiles as individuals, so knowing Him comes only through Him reveal Himself to the Gentile church, to know Him, only through the Word, as He is the Word. There is no other way.

As Jesus said to Peter when Peter identified Him as the Christ, the Son of the living God, the Lord responded; "Blessed art thou Simon bar Jona, for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee but my Father Who is in heaven." Mt.16:17, and it is upon this revelation that the Church of the Living God is grounded, not Peter, who denied Christ three times after this mystery was revealed to him.

So much for being able to build a church upon a man.

One would like to not so much define a church, but would prefer to be more particular and put emphasis upon the Biblical definition of The Church, if he could be extended this grace.

The Church is made up of those who, since the beginning of the Gentile dispensation, have been given access to God, through His Word, in each of the Gentile church ages. Rev.2:20 through to Rev.3:22

Christ is the Word, "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God....and the Word became flesh.." Jn.1:1&14. This is the revelation Peter was given,
