Denver has a strong coffee shop culture. There are many little hole-in-the-wall places in nearly every neighborhood. Denver has a variety of 'types' of people, all intermixed together. Often you find coffee shops with men in suits sitting at tiny tables seven inches from punky styled women with huge earrings and purple hair. The eclectic mix of people and the large variety of shops makes Denver a great place to be a coffee shop lover.

One of the best examples of the above type of coffee house is St. Marks on 17th in the Uptown neighborhood (http://www.stmarkscoffeehouse.com/). They have lovely coffee, a wonderful tea and home-made pastry selection, a few Panini sandwiches, and that great group of Denverites. If you want great coffee and a room (and great patio) full of eye candy, St. Marks is your place. They have Wi-Fi, good music and board games. They also sell Cider from the bar next door, The Thin Man.

Another great shop is Michelangelo’s on Broadway (http://www.michelangeloswinebar.com/). It has that variety of faces along with a warm, comfortable environment. They have the typical array of yummy Lavazza coffee drinks, but also a good wine list. Their loose tea selection is nice, as well. The décor is very warm and comfy, and they have warm snuggly couches and a nice patio. They often have open mic nights. The only caution for this place is that you will find yourself stuck in the corner with a book for too many hours. They also have Wi-Fi.

Carino’s Coffee in Centennial (http://carinocoffee.squarespace.com/) is a great choice if you’re on the south end of town. They often have live music, a great drink selection, and a fantastic game collection. Their coffee is Kaladi Brothers. The fireplace makes for a wonderful place to snuggle up in the winter with a big creamy cup. They have a large book selection if you forget yours and have the need to read.

In the Highlands neighborhood, there is always Taza De Café, (http://www.Tazacafe.com). They have some really spunky flavored coffee drinks to go with the spunky semi-southwestern
