Poetry: For better or for worse

by Lori Salsgiver

Created on: October 20, 2010

The day I married you, it was for better or for worse.

The day I gave birth to our children, it was for better or for worse.

The day you received your 1st promotion at work, it was for better or for worse.

The day we bought our first house together, it was for better or for worse.

The day the dog chewed up all your work shoes, it was for better or for worse.

The day our kids started school, it was for better or for worse.

The day you got laid off from your job, it was for better or for worse.

The day our son joined the football team, it was for better or for worse.

The day your mother died, it was for better or for worse.

The day our daughter learned to drive, it was for better or for worse.

The day our kids went off to college, it was for better or for worse.

The day you walked your daughter down the aisle, it was for better or for worse.

The day I had a stroke and lost part of my sight, it was for better or for worse.

The day you held my hand and said “I love you for better or for worse!”
