Nintendo game consoles such as the Wii and Nintendo DS are currently considered the top game consoles. As such, these game consoles have plenty of fans. However, there are some notable alternatives to Nintendo game consoles. Here are a few of the best alternatives to Nintendo game consoles.
Xbox 360:
The Microsoft Xbox game console is one of the best multi-media game consoles there is. The Xbox 360 includes Xbox Live which is great for mult-player gaming, and also provides movies, music, game demos and downloads, and includes the Windows Media Center. As such, in this respect it is superior to the Wii game console. In terms of games, the Xbox 360 console has some notable game titles such as Halo 3, Halo Reach, Call of Duty 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, Call of Duty 4, and Bioshock. There have been a number of Xbox 360 console models, but currently the Xbox 360 S, the Xbox 360 250 GB, and the Xbox 360 4 GB are the most notable which have variable storage and designs. Overall, the Xbox 360 game console is one of the best alternatives to the Wii.
PlayStation 3:
The PlayStation 3 is the third PlayStation console from Sony. Overall, it is the most advanced game console in terms of audio and graphics. As such, the console is one of the most highly valued. In terms of features, the PlayStation 3 has the PlayStation network for multi-player gaming. The game console also has some good multi-media features with an OS and photo-gallery for photos. In addition to this, the PlayStation 3 has connectivity with the PlayStation Portable. The PlayStation 3 console game library includes games such as Call of Duty 4, Grand Theft Auto 4, and Metal Gear Solid 4.
Windows games:
Windows games are a good alternative to console video games. After all, Windows includes many of the best console titles such as Call of Duty 4, Splinter Cell, and some of the Halo games. In addition to this, some of the best Windows game titles include Command and Conquer games, the Half-Life series, and Sega's Total War games. In addition to this, there are also quite a few good freeware game titles for Windows. With a good 3D graphics card and system resources Windows games are a good alternative.
PlayStation Portable:
The PlayStation Portable, or the PSP, is Sony's hand-held game console. As mentioned, it has connectivity with the PlayStation 3 console, and a good library of games. As such, it is one of the best hand-held game consoles alongside the Nintendo DS.
Overall, these are the best alternatives to Nintendo consoles. The Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows, and PSP. So, who needs a Nintendo Wii?
