How social bookmarking works

Wouldn’t it be great if you could show your new article or web page to the world in an instant; if you could start getting visitors to your website just moments after publishing something? Well, it actually is quite possibly, and happens every day. In fact, large name companies (Apple Inc., Google, Microsoft, etc.) use this technique everyday to introduce new ideas to users. This technique is formally known as Social Bookmarking. According to Wikipedia, social bookmarking is “a method for Internet users to share, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web resources. “ What this means is, a person who points his/her browser to a social bookmarking site, can access daily news at the tips of his/her fingers. By social bookmarking a post, video, article, etc., a user can find his or her content on a search engine in mere days.

In fact, you may have already visited or used a social bookmarking site before. The most popular social bookmarking site is Digg (http://www.digg.com/). In addition, millions of people also use Yahoo! Buzz (http://www.buzz.yahoo.com/), Reddit (http://www.reddit.com/), StumbleUpon (http://www.stumbleupon.com/), and Delicious (http://www.delicious.com/).

At this point, a user new to social bookmarking might be asking, “Which site should I pick?” The answer is, ALL OF THEM. By social bookmarking your site at different sites, you will increase your benefits ten-fold.

Lastly, social bookmarking a page isn’t always enough. It is vitally important to go through this list of
