The first thing that needs to be said, is that sex changes a relationship. If you are friends, it launches you into something completely different. If you have been dating, and your next step is the bedroom, it will lead to feelings of commitment, responsibility, and or obligations. If you have just met, then it will dictate where your relationship goes, if it goes any where at all.

Sex on the first date is acceptable, if that is the reason you two went on the date to begin with. If you both agreed you wanted to meet because it was your intention from the start to find someone safe, where the chemistry was mutual, just to have a sexual encounter, then fine. However, if you are meeting someone with the intention of exploring the possibilities for something serious or long term, sex on the first date isn't acceptable.

Everyone that dates, has an agenda, and they are aware of that agenda, before the date is even made or accepted. Communicating that to each other is acceptable. My rule of thumb is always this... if you can't talk about sex with him/her, than you shouldn't be having sex with him/her. It's that simple.

Communicating your intention is always the best thing to do, for a male or female.
