What gift is handier or more convenient than a gift card? Or, for that matter, a check or some cash? For these reasons exactly, many wedding guests choose to give newly married couples gift cards or certificates, cash, or checks for their wedding gifts. It allows the couple to get exactly what they need or want, as opposed to hoping that registries come through or guests make good educated guesses!
The reality, though, is that small things like cards can easily get lost, misplaced, damaged, or even stolen in the hustle and bustle of a wedding day. That is why a good card box is a necessary thing to have - it helps keep everything in one place, is easy to transport, and can look fantastic! It is quite easy to make your own. If you are looking to create a sunflower-themed wedding card box for your celebration, here is an easy process to make it happen:
You Will Need:
• A round box (such as a hatbox)
• Thick paper, such as poster board
• Paint
• Strong glue
• A knife
• Scissors
Directions:
1. Seal the box shut by gluing the lid down tightly.
2. Use a knife or scissors to cut a slit in the top of the box wide enough for a greeting card or envelope to slip inside.
3. Begin decorating! Use paint to create the look of a sunflower, or go all out and make 3-D petals. To do this, simply cut the shape of the petals out of the thick paper, paint them the correct color, and attach them to the box in a layered pattern (sunflowers have a layered look) using the strong glue.
4. Allow the glue to dry completely. Your box is complete! If you wish to go all out, add some charming touches such as attaching real or silk sunflowers around the base of the box, or turning the box into a tall sunflower itself by attaching it to a tall post (a coat rack wrapped in silk leaves could work quite nicely). If you choose the "tall" option, make sure to cut the slit higher in the box so that cards can still fall freely.
And there you go! With a little creativity and some homespun handiwork, you will be able to easily create a beautiful, cheerful sunflower-themed wedding card box for your nuptial celebrations. Make it a party and enjoy!
