The Church of Satan

I am grateful to the Church Of Satan for its contunuance in promoting the words and tenets of Anton LaVey - to whom I am also grateful. That said, I feel there is a great difference between "Satanims" and "The Church Of Satan".

To my mind there are many different kinds of Satanists and not all of them are necessarily connected with the Church Of Satan, in much the same way that allthough there are many people who will identify themselves as being Christian, they are not necessarily Catholic.

If a person has faith in Jesus and / or God, they should feel free to present themselves as being Christians but should also feel free to do so without associating themselves with a Church / corporation / entity such as Catholacism. I view the Church Of Satan in a similar Way. I consider myself to be a Satanist, yet I am not a member of The Church Of Satan.

I own copies of LaVey's books and read them in much the same way as a Christian would the Holy Bible - that is to say, religiosly. I considder myself to be a Satanist and feel that is just as worthy a claim as one who says "I am a Satanist because I am a member of The Church Of Satan".

When Anton LaVey died, his wisdom and vision was not passed onto to any other individual neither will there be a "second coming" of LaVey and so there can be no association of authority on the subject other than the words of the man himself and the intelect of the individual interpreting them. There is nothing between the Satanist and Satan just as - from a Christian perspective - there is nothing between the Christian and God.

As I am in danger of going off at a serious tangent that should perhaps be called "All Churches Are Unnecessary" I shall finish with the suggestion that anybody with any interest on the subject of Satanism draw their understanding from as wide a range of sources as possible. A simple Google search is all it takes and there are a range of websites devoted to the topic (www.churchofsatan.org being my personal favourite).
