Christmas 2010: The best Christmas music for children

by Jennifer Corrow

Created on: October 14, 2010

The Christmas season is a magical one especially for children.  It is amazing to see just how excited a child can get over receiving a Wish Book catalog in the mail during the Fall.  It seems to spring forth their anticipation for the day to come quicker.  It also reminds them of the wonderful holiday music that lifts the spirits as they wait for Christmas Day to come.  Hearing kids break into their own rendition of holiday songs seems to get us in the mood too.

With so many forms of holiday music to choose from, how do you know which ones will be the most enjoyed by your children?  Personal style plays a huge part  when selecting music.  Styles can range from the classics like "Silver Bells" by Bing Crosby to religious hymns like "Silent Night" to  fun and fancy free toe-tappers like "Jingle Bell Rock".

If you have a small child, you may want to start with relate-able forms of Christmas music performed by a Disney character that they know.  It makes it fun for them by learning the holiday songs in an entertaining matter.  If you have slightly older kids, you may have to choose holiday music that involves the era's pop culture celebrity of the day.  This form of Christmas songs may be annoying to you as the parent, but at least they are getting into the holiday spirit.

As a parent, you may find that your child may enjoy the same styles of music you do.  Then again, maybe not, but you won't know until you pop a CD in to find out.  Most children like a collaborative collection of songs.  Introduce them to the varieties, and you might be surprised at their reactions.

Children usually love music in general.  Most kids today have their own form of entertainment systems whether it's an I-Pod. an MP3 player, or just a CD player in their room.  Music is available to them.  Together as parent and child, you can go on-line and download music or burn a CD with their choice of holiday songs.  It is a great way to spend time together and listen to some wonderful Christmas music.

Christmas music is inspirational, joyful and delightful.  Make memories today for you and your family by choosing great music together for your holiday season. Tis the season to be jolly...fa la la la la.
