Best websites for tarot readers

by Marianne Pelletier

There are dozens of websites available for both psychics and tarot readers. I'll list a few in this article, but will first give you tips on how to separate the wheat from the chaff.

For websites hosting lots of readers of all types, your best tip that the site is worth using comes from how it handles its readers. Take a look for a tab or link to applying to be a reader and then read the site's criteria. Do the readers have to have professional experience? Or does the site advertise a free sign up to anyone?  You'll get a feel for the site's philosophy.

Let's take a look at two sites offering a mix of readers to see the difference. First, go to http://www.keen.com/. You'll notice a tab on the top that says, "give advice." When you click on it, there's advertising to get new readers there. No fee, no qualifications, the reader split the revenue. This is a site that is making money from tarot readers, not providing a good service.

Now go to http://psychicaccess.com/. Here,  you don't see that inviting tab for prospective readers; you have to dig into the page to find how to apply. You have to go to the very bottom of the page to find the link, "employment."  When you click on the link (http://psychicaccess.com/employment/) you get to read what skills and experience tarot readers must have to qualify. On this site, you're likely to get a much better quality reader.

For websites of individual readers, look at the bottom of the web page. Was it designed by a professional designer? Is the site hosted by a real website hosting firm? These are signs that the reader is making a good living and can afford a decent website.

Now read the website itself. Does the reader have a good photo with her experience described prominently? Does he have a schedule up with his upcoming appearances? Good readers are invited to many fairs.  Is the site updated regularly? What do you read of the tarot reader's experience?

Certifying tarot readers in the U.S. is new (see http://www.tarotcertification.org/), but good readers have experience listed, and a certified reader took the time to demonstrate that they know their cards. Certification is an easy way to tell that your prospective reader knows her stuff.

Let's take a look at two individual tarot readers who are advertising independently online. The first is "It's All in the Cards": http://www.angelfire.com/ny/elainatarotastrology/. When you go here, you get a pop up ad, then a lot of advertising, then not a whole lot of information, or even a photo.

But if you go here: http://www.dawn-lynn.com/AboutDawn.php. Here you see that Dawn is clear about who she is, what her experience is, and where her upcoming gigs are. Clearly she has taken time to design the page so that you can see if her reading for you is a good fit.

Finally, my experience as a tarot reader on Ebay is that the readers charge very little. In addition, there's not a lot of room for them to express their experience with you. Instead, on Ebay, the focus is on building a catchy title. My suggestion instead, if you'd like to use a general site like Ebay or Craigslist is to start with Etsy.com. This website requires vendors to be clear and to offer a product that can be delivered in exchange for a named price. Here is an example: http://www.etsy.com/shop/mpellet771?section_id=58420 25. This reader isn't making a living at reading, but she's thoughtful about providing the service for a fair price.

Good luck. Remember, if you find a good reader, keep him. There are way too many inexperienced readers out there for you to lose the business card or e-mail address of someone who did well by you.
