Going Through the Motions
Morning comes early in the urban decay
that engulfs my life with a sense of smothered
breath upon the moonlit days with no sunshine
of any great significance
and I go through the motions
to find a sense of order
in a disordered world.
I walk the gray and rotting streets
with an overwhelming sense of bitter recollections
of an unfilled destiny
that was lost among the trials and tribulations
of time.
And I go through the motions of the sameness
as age and reality dots the horizon
hidden by insignificant pettiness that abounds
from the classless souls that dare to impede
my ultimate goal to find a sense of aligned spirits
among the sky that lives without star-light,
and erupts with roadblocks.
Tears are meaningless for no one sees
nor wipes them dry
and so my soul hardens to a point of becoming
unfeeling-to myself for it is a lost cause
and my steps make no noise
among the lonely hearts that know no end.
I've tried my best, done all I could and I am tired,
so exhausted from being the me that I am,
and not feeling a warm hug or word of encouragement,
in the cool autumn air.
The clock strikes the hour and I slowly but surely
make my way along the road to find hope upon the hopeless,
sighing, wondering and knowing no matter what I do,
it is just going through the motions.

Going Through The Motions
This feeling I can no longer fight. Its
been swarming in my head since I
met you. Hostility fills
So mechanical our actions,
Easily they fly from out limbs.
Territory too familiar to question.
Consequences not hindered,
