Mega Man 2 is the sequel to the hugely successful platformer Mega Man 1. This continues the same formula albeit with some improvements. Mega Man was one of the first games on the Nintendo Entertainment System that allowed players to choose the order of the stages they would finish. Most games at the time only offered one fixed path. Mega Man also acquired the powers of robot masters he defeated. The powers then followed a rock, paper and scissors mechanic where some weapons work well against some robot masters while others do not.

-What's New-

Mega Man 2 is not just a mere rehash of its prequel. It offered improvements in both graphics and sound. It also added a lot of elements which would be present in future sequels such as energy tanks, a password save feature, eight robot masters, vehicles, Wily's castle and robot master chambers. The game also had two levels of difficulty. Of course all the robot masters are new. These are Airman, Crashman, Flashman, Quickman, Metalman, Bubbleman, Heatman and Woodman

-Airman-

Airman's stage is situated high in the sky. Here you face horned devils which produce Puti Goblins and try to hit you with their retractable horns. Be careful as falling means instant death at this stage. You also encounter Kaminari Goro which control platforms you need to advance and hurl bolts of lightning on you. There are also Pipis which bombard you with eggs that hatch into mini Pipis which pester you like hornets. Lastly Natasaburo who look like obese Mega Men try to blow you into falling from the sky.

Airman blows mini tornadoes at you and forces you back using the giant fan in his chest. Beating him will get you the Air Shooter and Item number 2. He is weak to the Leaf Shield.

-Crashman-

Crashman's stage involves mostly climbing and riding platforms. Several enemies try to throw you off the ladders. These are mostly Shotmen and Pipis . Choose the right ladders to advance and to get powerups.  At the last segment  of the stage, defeat the Flyboys to reach Crashman. Crashman throws exploding bombs at you.  . He is vulnerable to the Air Shooter. Vanquishing him will net you the Crash Bomb

-Flashman-

Flashman's stage is composed of  slippery gemstone like blocks. Shotmen attack you at the start and you also encounter Sniper Joe Jrs which are Sniper Joes in machines. Having the Crash Bomb helps you choose better routes with less enemies and more powerups. Vehicle 2 helps tremendously in the final leg of the stage
