The Best Way To Pray

Prayer is a way which a man communicates with God.  In turn, God hears and answers his prayers.  This is a fact about prayer-that God always answers prayers.  His answers are no, yes, or wait awhile.

We can pray anywhere, anytime but there is an appropriate or rather best way to pray.

1. Go to a place where you can be alone, quiet, free from distractions.

Your environment is very important in doing this spiritual activity because when praying, you need to have a focus, you need to concentrate.  The best places are in your bedroom, in the garden, in the attic of the house if there's any.

2. Concentrate. Focus.

In praying, we must remember that we are talking to a Divine & Supreme Being who is our God.  We need to leave our worldly thoughts and concentrate.  Picture God in your mind.

3. Start your prayer by addressing  Him "Our Father in Heaven,"

We pray always to the Father, not to Jesus Christ.  That is why we start our prayer by addressing to our Father in heaven.  Jesus Christ also said that "you pray unto the Father in my name".  Meaning, we pray unto God the Father.

4. Give thanks for all the blessings you received.

When we pray, giving thanks to God should come first than the asking part.  We have a lot of things to be thankful for.  These are our lives, His guidance and protection, His blessings like food & good health, our families and friends, our work, and many more.  In the scriptures, it is recorded that we should give thanks in all things. Ingratitude is a sin.

5. Time to ask for whatever things you need to ask from Him.

I think this is our favorite part, to ask from Him blessings for us, for our family, to ask for solutions to problems, ask for forgiveness, ask for help to financial crisis, ask for guidance and protection, etc....  Sometimes, asking is more than giving thanks.  This is true because we have so many things to ask for help from God.  But also we have many things to be grateful for.  All we have to do is balance it.

6. Close your prayer in the name of Jesus Christ.

This is what Jesus meant when he said, "pray unto the Father in my name".  We should always close our prayers in the name of Jesus Christ and none else because he is the only way to Heavenly Father.  He further said that whatsoever we shall ask unto the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, we shall receive it.

7. Pause and take time to listen.

Remember that prayer is a two-way communication.  We talk, He listens. Then we listen for His answers. Mostly, we missed this part.  That is why we don't know what His answers are.

Prayer is sacred. It must be sincere and heartfelt. Sincere prayers are answered because it comes from the heart, not just vain repetitions or memorized prayers.
