There is nothing more frustrating than when you have spent a long time on your make-up than for it to slide off after a few hours because your skin has turned shiny.
This is a problem for millions of women all over the word. But you can turn your skin from shiny to matte with a few simple changes to your skin care routine.
The first thing you will need to do is make sure that your face is clean. Always wash your hands before you wash your face. If you do not then all you will be doing is transferring the dirt from your hands to your face.
Thoroughly cleanse your face with a foaming cleanser. These are great for people with oily skin because they will remove the excess oils but not the essential oils that your skin needs.
Dry your face thoroughly and apply your moisturiser. Many people with oily or shiny skin do not moisturise because they think that they do not need to. But no matter what your skin type you need to moisturise. Choose an oil absorbing moisturiser that has mattifying properties. These will help to absorb the excess oil from your skin and keep it looking fresh and matte all day whilst still moisturising your face.
Apply a thin layer and rub it in thoroughly. Many of these moisturisers contain zinc which will settle onto the skin if you apply too much and do not rub it in.
Once you have applied your moisturiser then you will need to let it settle into your skin and absorb. Once it has absorbed then you can apply your make-up. Before you apply your foundation you should apply a foundation primer. This is a clear gel that will help to refine the look of your pores and even out the skin tone. It will also help to make your skin look matte and keep it shine free all day.
The best type of foundation to use if y have shiny or oily skin is a mineral powder foundation. These will keep your skin looking matte and they will also help absorb excess oils. Apply your foundation by placing one dot on your forehead, on on your chin, one on your nose and either cheek. Blend these dots together to create a smooth finish.
Choose a powder blusher instead of a cream or gel one. A powder blusher will last longer than the other formulas.
Once you have applied all of your make-up then set your look with a dusting of oil absorbing loose powder.
