Product reviews: Urban Decay Liquid eye liner

Eyeliner is one of those wonderful pieces of make-up that can completely change your look and enhance the shape of your eyes; it is the staple of most females' (and sometimes males'!) beauty routines. Urban Decay has an excellent range of colours for their liquid eyeliner range; a whole 14 of them to be exact! The colour I chose to go with was "Perversion", which is a sleek black.

Urban Decay make-up always has beautiful and unique packaging and their Liquid Liner was no exception. The bottle itself looks almost like an old fashioned inkwell and has a small handle. The handle was a good size to fit into my hand and enabled me, who has limited experience at applying liquid eyeliner with a brush, to apply the eyeliner in a nice smooth line.

The brush itself is quite short and ends at a blunt, straight angle but I found this to be easier to work with than the typical pointed-ended brushes I've attempted to use in the past.

The colour was very strong and I didn't need to do two coats of the liner, which means that the bottle will last me twice as long as my usual eyeliner, L'Oreal's Super Liner in "Black Crystal". The eyeliner doesn't set and dry as quickly as L'Oreal's one does, so I ended up with a small transfer mark around my eye. When I did my other eye, I made sure to close it for a couple of seconds, which seemed to do the trick of drying it.

After applying it and making sure it had dried properly, I finished applying my make-up and went about my day for the next ten hours or so. Just before I actually removed my make-up, I took a good look at my eyes to check out the eyeliner and I was impressed at how well the eyeliner had held up through the day; throughout the day my eyes had gotten itchy, due to tiredness, and I had been rubbing them and on top of this, it was also very warm which can cause eyeliner to melt and chip away.

Just before I looked in the mirror, I was expecting to see some parts of the eyeliner smudged around, other parts missing completely and I was also expecting to see chips of the eyeliner under my bottom lashes. I saw none of this; my eyeliner looked almost the same as it had when I had applied it, around 10 hours previously.

My only issue with this eyeliner was that it wasn't very easy to take off. That small transfer mark I mentioned earlier? I was left with a slight black mark all day, despite trying to rub it off with a dampened q-tip many times. When I tried to take the rest of the eyeliner off with make-up removing wipes, the eyeliner smudged around before actually coming off, which made my eyes sore as I had to rub them fairly hard.

I will still be repurchasing this product but only once I've found a better eye make-up remover.
