My Sunset began some time around
The age of 40
When the fire of my life swelled in bright
Liquid wonder
In shades of gold, bronze, copper and quartz.
And each year, the hues grow a bit deeper
Set a little more lower
Coming sooner and sooner
Than the year before
But still so beautiful nonetheless.
My Sunset proceeds to dusk
And cold, bitter darkness
Taunting me with glimpses of the
Future so certain so final as
Night embraces Sunset one last time.
