Baked beans made the right way are a wonderful substitute for meat. There are many different recipes for baked beans. Here is a recipe for savory baked beans.
Savory Baked Beans
Ingredients:
1 package kidney beans
2 strips bacon cooked
1 bottle honey barbecue sauce
Directions:
1. Cook the beans 4 hours in crockpot on high with a little water.
2. Add the bacon and barbecue sauce the last half hour.
3. Serve warm by themselves or with meal.
This is an easy to make recipe. It does take a while to cook so it is best to be used for dinner.
Easy Savory Baked Beans
Ingredients:
1 big can of kidney beans cooked
2 c barbecue sauce
2 strips bacon cooked and crumbled
Directions:
1.Warm beans in microwave or on stove in pan.
2. Add sauce and bacon.
3. Mix together and serve. Can be served as a meal by itself or used as a side to main course.
Baked beans are a delicious meal or side dish. They are very filling and full of protein. This helps keep your blood sugar regulated. This is a very easy recipe. You can also cheat and buy a can of already made baked beans. You can warm them in the microwave and eat them or add ham or bacon. This makes them more filling and they taste even better. There's something about adding ham or bacon to the beans that makes them taste even better. The sweet barbecue flavor that comes from a honey flavored barbecue sauce tastes wonderful also. You may also choose to add a little brown sugar. You can also experiment with different sauces and types of beans such as pinto, white beans, etc. You may try hickory style barbecue sauce or original. You may also try sweet and sour or another sauce.
