Bourjois 10 Hour Sleep Effect Foundation claims to have a formula that will conceal signs of tiredness, such as dark circles and a dull complexion. It comes in five different shades; Abricote clair, Rose clair, Rose, Abricote and Beige clair.
When I purchased this product, I was somewhat concerned by the fact that it only came in five shades and initially thought that the lightest shade might still be too dark for me but I tried out the Tester and it actually looked like a pretty good match. When I got the product home, I couldn't wait to try it out.
I put some of the product on the back of my hand and "felt" some of the product between my fingers; it felt thick and creamy, which belied its runny, almost water-like appearance.
I grabbed a clean make-up sponge and dabbed it into the product on the back of my hand and started applying it to my face. It went on beautifully and smoothly and was an excellent match to my natural skin tone. Although it has a very sheer coverage, it made my skin tone look even and brighter than it does naturally, which pleased me to no end.
I have a few broken and open pores on my face, along with a couple of old chicken pox scars and I usually find that foundations settle into these dips and dents in my skin and make them look more obvious; Bourjois 10 Hour Sleep Effect Foundation didn't settle thickly into these problem areas.
Immediately after applying the foundation, my skin felt smooth, soft and recently moisturised. I had a tiny bit of shine from the foundation but it was more of a "dewy" effect than a greasy effect.
After a couple of hours of wear, I checked out my skin in the mirror to see how the foundation had held up and I was sorely disappointed.
The first thing I noticed was that the foundation had badly oxidised and not even evenly; I had dark patches of skin. Another thing I noticed was that the skin on my face was suddenly looking very greasy and when I felt my skin, it felt just as greasy and oily as it looked.
This was all very disappointing as I really wanted to like this product. I even tried it a couple of other times, with different primers underneath - and on one occasion, no primer underneath - but it didn't get any better.
