Having a baby isn't always as simple as you'd think. Some women try for several months, without success, not realizing the biggest key, can be understanding your body's signals and natural process's. Here's a few tips on charting your temperatures, and what it means with other signs.
1. You can make a chart of your own, or use a site like www.fertilityfriend.com. You should take your temp the same time every morning, before you get up, and after three consecutive hours of sleep.
2. Your temperatures before you ovulate are always lower. Once you ovulate (you may see a dip the day of ovulation) your temps will ris, and will stay that way until your period arrives, or you get a positive pregnancy test. (In which case, it remains an elevated BBT (basal body Temperature) throughout the pregnancy. This is cause from an increase in progesterone, which sustains the pregnancy. a drop in temps arounf 14 days past ovulation (dpo) typically can mean yourr period is on it's way.
3. Watch for other signs. When you are gearing up for ovulation, your body changes. You will notice your vaginal discharge change from creamy, to almost eggwhite. This is peak fertility time. Sperm is able to survive best in this condition.
If you suspect you aren't ovulating, this is also a good method to try and take your chart to your Dr, so they can see what's going on. Although nothing is guaranteed, it has helped hundreds of thousands of women get pregnant.
