Those who are suffering from long term unemployment and are either out of benefits or running out of benefits may be considering earning money online. The question for many though is if it is genuinely possible to earn a livable income online.  Much of this depends on what skills that a person has and their commitment to doing whatever is necessary to earn money.  Although there are many potentially great ways to earn money online, not all of them will allow you to earn a living wage. 

Those who enjoy writing can earn a livable wage online, if they work hard and commit themselves to succeeding. Writers who enjoy blogging are fortunate to have numerous ways of earning income online. While blogging alone will not provide a livable income for most, it can be a great way to supplement other activities. In addition to sites that pay you to blog, you can set up your own blog and earn ongoing revenue from advertising programs.  This allows a freelance writer to develop an income stream that will generally grow over time as content is added and new readers begin following the blog.

Freelancing for income

Another great option for freelance writers is to find clients through online marketplaces or through social networks. Some freelancers use sites like Elance or oDesk, while others identify clients through Twitter, LinkedIn and FaceBook.  Each freelancer must set their own rates and decide what work they want to pursue. Allowing friends, family members and former colleagues knowing what you are doing to start your own business can also be a source of new business.
