If you suffer from adult acne you know how physically and emotionally painful it can be. Lucky for you there is a method, that I use, that is not as expensive as acne treatment systems that are currently on the market. Knowing what you need to do to prevent an acne outbreak is the first step in acne prevention.
For those of us who have oily skin you need to wash your face at least twice a day, once in the morning and before bed. The oil collects dirt and dead skin throughout the day and in our sleep. That is why you must clean your face every day to prevent acne. What you use to clean your face is the next step in preventing acne.
The products I use to clean my face are:
A soft bristle toothbrush (Arm & Hammer Spinbrush) Cotton Rounds (Premium Brand that will not fall apart when you use them) Clean & Clear Deep Finishes Even Tone Foaming Cleanser (oil free) Clean & Clear Deep Cleaning Astringent (2.0% Salicylic Acid) Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 10 (10% Benzoyl Peroxide A light face moisturizing lotion (oil free)Step 1:
Wet your face with warm water. Apply foaming cleanser and massage into your skin. Leave the cleanser on your face and use the Spinbrush to scrub your face. Make sure to get all areas of your face and be careful around your eyes. Do not scrub over the same area more than two to three times to avoid irritation of the skin. After you have finished scrubbing your face with the brush rinse all of the cleanser from your face.
Step 2:
Dry your face and apply the astringent to a cotton round. Squeeze excess astringent from the cotton round and use the cotton round to scrub your face. Do not go over the same area more than once to avoid irritation of the skin. If you currently have acne on your face the astringent may burn a little, but as it dries the burning will lessen.
Step 3:
After the astringent has dried, apply a small dot of the Persa-Gel 10 to each acne blemish on your face and rub it in until you can no longer see it. This step will dry out any existing acne on your face and make the acne disappear faster.
Step 4:
Apply a light oil free facial moisturizer to your face. This is necessary to make sure your face does not dry out, but should be used sparingly to make sure you do not clog up your pores. You may want to only do this once a day, at first, to see if you truly need additional moisturizer.
Following these steps daily will help to ensure your face will be acne free. Some factors, such as hormones, daily activities, and some foods may cause acne to appear despite you cleaning efforts. Eating healthy and cleaning your face after activities, such as exercising and yard work, will also help to prevent acne. So make sure you are aware of when you should be cleaning your face to maximize your defense against acne. Also, if you find that using any one of these steps is too irritating to your skin, reduce the use of the Spinbrush to once a day.
